Covers heavily rubbed and scuffed with significant loss of surface leather, spines worn with cracking and losses at head and tail, hinges weak to partly broken, text block red-stained at edges, internally toned and with minor soiling; still in good condition, see pictures.

Greek text with new Latin translation and commentary by Jesuit scholar Matthaeus Rader (1561–1634); includes his 'Isagoge ad S. Climaci Scalam Paradisi'. Published with royal privilege (Ludovici XIII) and Jesuit provincial approval by the distinguished Parisian printer Sébastien Cramoisy.
