The fifth and last volume of the series on the sanctuary of Asclepios examines the architectural innovations from imperial times that determined the sanctuary´s outward appearance during Hadrian´s reign. The characteristics are discussed and put into their historical and architectural context. Thus, it becomes obvious how the Asclepieion could develop into one of the wonders of the ancient world.
